Screenplays are difficult for most non-industry people to read because they are not in the book-like format that most are familiar with. If a writer has the desire to get his story out to the masses in a form other than a feature film, that artist must convert the screenplay to a novel.

When I launched "The e-Buffet" I had several finished screenplays in a box. With a 20 yr hiatus as a single parent at an end, I wanted to get back to work. My first thought was to convert one of my science fiction adventures to a novel and serialize it in my new magazine. One of my contributors, an award winning novelist, told me that she could tell I had a lot of experience as a screen writer, but none as a novelist. I took it as a fact, not an insult and I began to search for presentation formats for multimedia projects.

I found Bruce Marich, an unsold screenwriter with the desire to market his screenplays visually using the internet. What he was doing startled me. It was not simply a sales tool, it was a way to present a screenplay using all visual media; A slide show, Powerpoint, music, artwork and special effects, all combined.

Using modified Slug Lines and the Directorial instruction straight out of one of his screenplays, I am showing "The Devil's Soup Bowl" in the magazine as a Halloween Special. It is an experiment. Our readers will tell us if it is an acceptable form or not. Personally, I like it.
